Women in the village of Langit in Alangalang, Leyte, Philiipines have now access to additional source of income through sewing. Thanks to Amon Foundation which provided us funds to buy three (3) units of sewing machines which the village women can readily use for personal and business projects. The women plan to make tote bags from used clothing, not new ones in order to help solve the increasing piles of solid waste, thus participating in the circular circular economy.
Besides, sewing can provide additional source of income for the family which will hopefully reduce dependence on peatland resources.
