SOS WOMEN!

My emotions are at their peak,my mind is disturbed .I want a change.
15 year old Nancy collapsed in school yesterday and was rushed to the hospital. She was taken to the reanimation ward to be on oxygen.Immediately her breathing improved, the nurses while trying to lift her to a wheel chair to be taken to another ward discovered she was bleeding. They began to rain insults on her and told her relatives she had commited an abortion. Her relatives began ill treating the semi -conscious girl right away calling her all sorts of names and pushing her head.No one was willing to pay for her to see a gynecologist nor any other specialist, thus she was left unattended to for almost an hour. Finally a good samaritan paid for her to be examined and the gynecologist came in to see her. After examining her ,he declared she had not commited an abortion but was on her monthly period.Just as he finished making the pronouncement,Nancy gave up the ghost!.Yes she died because she was not able to talk, the unknown illness had taken away her voice.
This is the second shock in a row to me this week.On Monday as I was on my way to the grocery shop in my neighbourhood,I noticed some drops of blood on the roadside and was wondering what could have happened. When I got to the grocery I got wind of the fact that a drunken man beat his 6months old pregnant wife to death the previous night for not preparing his meal.He alledgely used his boots to kick the womans tummy, which led to profuse bleeding.Unfortunately before she was rushed to the hospital that night she had given up the ghost!Yes she died because it is culturally correct for a husband to do whatever he likes with his wife, who is considered by the customary law in Cameroon as part of his property. What can any man do to me if I decide to use my bucket as a chair and it gets broken? It is my property, I could choose to destroy or keep it.It does not matter whether I took the decison to crush my bucket when drunk or sane.
This reminds me of the fact that my neighbour collapsed in her farm two weeks ago when she was informed that the money she has been saving from her petty trading for more than six months to be used for her daughters surgery had been stolen by her drunkard husband, who was at that time squandering it in a beer palour with a different woman. When she was rushed to the hospital other poeple paid her bills with the hope that her husband will be brought to reason when he will be informed of the mishap.Sadly, the drunk "gentlemen" said he had no money left on him and that a woman who can be sleeping with him on the same bed and keeping such a huge amount of money without his knowledge can kill. Therefore he needs to get himself a second wife who can be trusted. This same man had abandoned this woman in the maternity when she gave birth to their 9th daughter, four years ago.In his usual drunken state he declared he did not want a football team of harlots, referring to his daughters. He left the woman and the baby and never came back to pay their bills. She was forced to remain in the hospital for two weeks and do odd jobs to make up for the bill.
I am in no way trying to potray women as saints or the always correct. It is just that even the most uncompromising chauvinist would agree with me that women in all parts of the world receive extremely harsh treatment from men and sometimes from fellow women.I really want women to be free from this kind of culture which finds it normal for them to be ill treated.
