Speak Out

story
It's heart breaking to witness the vulnerability of all mankind but even more so, women & children. The pandemic saw most people loose their jobs & livelihoods. My focus gravitates towards women who suffer most under all situations due to their nature; a woman will do anything to see her kids thrive & survive, literally anything.
To all women who underwent sexual harassment with an ultimatum of give in or get out from their employers during the pandemic or any other period, I understand them because I lived & experienced it. Something needs to be done. With a society that hushes the accusation, slut shames the woman & applauds the man by branding him "jogoo" ( a swahili word meaning cock) it's intolerable & needs to be stopped. The men feel so entitled that they now not only look at women but young girls & kids too. The law you say? There is no law; not for the poor & barely surviving lot, not for a woman too scared to be slut shamed that she cries & perseveres inside, not for a nation that is not focused on the survival & well being of the vulnerable, not for a family/society/office that has normalized the act because it's the only way to survive.
Sexual harassment & rape is happening, it's out there & it's real. we can educate our kids about the two but how do we change a society's way of thinking? How do we get the men accountable for their actions? How do we get the system to handle such cases with the weight it deserves & not drag in court? Mothers, young ladies, girls, kids are affected and always at risk & it's slowly killing them for each justice not served. We need to protect our women because they are life. This has got to stop!
