Street Hawking

I am happy to be a part of this great community. I am a strong educated woman who is not afraid to help other women and i believe World Pulse is a great platform to help my fellow women, share ideas with other strong educated women and also learn from other women's experiences.

It is no longer news that Africa is the least developed continent despite its natural and human resources. Street hawking is a topic 'dear' to my heart. Seeing people hawk on the streets especially children breaks my heart because of the dangers these people are exposed to. On a daily basis, people are kidnapped, killed and raped while trying to survive through street hawking.

If you are an African, live in Africa or have visited Africa, there is no denying the fact that its dangerous seeing these people especially children run after a car trying to sell something. Some of my friends argue that with the high unemployment rate, these people have no choice but to hawk in the streets because they have to survive.

Let us join hands and put a stop to street hawking because i believe it can be stopped. People can sell in the market, shops etc without risking their lives. An action plan to help put a stop to street hawking without 'killing' these people's means of survival is what we need.
