Sudan peace appeal

Former Sudanese Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdok and head of the Sudanese Civil Democratic Alliance for Revolutionary Forces Sumoud launched the Sudan Peace Appeal to stop the war in Sudan and an immediate ceasefire.

Based on its vision, the appeal reviewed the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe that Sudan is experiencing as a result of the ongoing war, where millions are suffering from displacement, hunger and epidemics, in addition to the collapse of basic services and the escalation of hate speech and violence.

To clarify its message, the appeal warned that the continuation of the war poses a threat to regional and international security. It called for an immediate end to it through an urgent meeting of the African and International Security Councils, with the participation of the parties to the conflict and civil forces, with the aim of:

1. Immediately cease fire and ensure a humanitarian truce.

2. Implement confidence-building measures, including:

Deploying a peace mission,

Opening humanitarian corridors,

Establishing safe zones,

And stopping media escalation.

3. Imposing an arms embargo and preventing war financing.

4. Holding an international donor conference to finance humanitarian needs.

5. Launching a comprehensive peace process that includes:

- The humanitarian track (aid and protection of civilians).

- The ceasefire track (permanent security arrangements).

- The political track (a comprehensive dialogue to resolve the roots of the crisis).

The appeal specified its ultimate goals as:

- Achieving a permanent cessation of war

- Establishing a democratic civil system,

- Building a unified national army,

- Achieving justice,

- Reconstruction.

To confirm its determination, it announced that it will continue with all Sudanese, regional and international parties to mobilize support for this initiative, and establish a clear vision to end the war and build Sudan on democratic foundations, while rejecting the return of the former regime in any form.

Including this, it called on the Sudanese and regional and international powers to participate in ending the war and ensuring a secure and stable future for the country.
