During its meeting in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, the Arab League Ministerial Council announced its full support for the Republic of Sudan, both the government and the people. It adopted a special item on its official agenda entitled "Supporting Peace and Development in Sudan," affirming Arab unity on crucial issues.
In its resolution, the Council affirmed that Sudan's security is an integral part of Arab national security and emphasized the importance of protecting Sudan's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. The Council rejected any form of interference in Sudan's internal affairs and called for the need to support Sudanese national institutions and protect them from collapse, given the escalating challenges facing the country.
The Ministerial Council issued an open appeal to all Arab countries and organizations to provide urgent humanitarian and development support to Sudan, reiterating its call for an immediate ceasefire based on the Jeddah Declaration and exploring ways to resume the Jeddah political process.
The Council also called on the Arab Contact Group, composed of the foreign ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Republic of Egypt, along with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, to continue their commendable and effective efforts to reach solutions that meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people for stability and sustainable development.
For his part, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and head of the Sudanese delegation participating in the Ministerial Council meetings, affirmed that the meeting unanimously affirmed full solidarity with Sudan. Al-Fadil stressed that Sudan had made a clear appeal to the Council to preserve Sudanese state institutions and prevent their collapse, given the serious repercussions this would have on the country's future and unity.
