Surviving female violence

An elderly woman was able to get medical care and have her uterus removed after she was attacked by militia in Sudan.

She came into exile after losing her home. And everything that followed

A lady from America called me asking me to help her

But she didn't have money

Nor connections

And all the Sudanese here are suffering from the horrors of war

I didn't know how to help her

So I used my connections and journalistic knowledge to coordinate with a gynecologist and obstetrician

And a psychiatrist

And a number of capable colleagues

To save her

All of them volunteered to help her

And the money we collected was only to pay for transportation fees, gauze and supplies from the pharmacy for the operation

Thank God she survived

There are many Sudanese women like her who were subjected to sexual abuse or were afraid of being subjected to it

When the militia stormed the villages in Sudan, they committed suicide or suffered from incurable psychological illnesses

Oh God, be kind to us, oh God
