Survivors- Breaking the Silence around Child Sexual Abuse

On 3rd October, ElsaMarie D’Silva, @elsamariedsilva our Founder conducted a chat on @pinthecreep with Eirliani A Rahman @eirliani talking about her new book- ‘Survivors- Breaking the Silence around Child Sexual Abuse’

The book was written with an intention of giving a voice to the voiceless as it takes a lot of courage for survivors to share their story. Eirliani explained that most children could not find the words to describe their experience and in most cases of child sexual abuse the perpetrator is known to them. Victim blaming still exists when the adult finds the courage to report their story. Talking about their story helps in the healing process and gives survivors closure. The need to strengthen laws, educate families and educators, sensitise police and improve institutional systems was voiced unanimously by the participants in the chat.
