Technology is a tool
Somewhere along the way, technology stopped being a tool and started becoming the system. We’ve built layers of apps, platforms, and processes, often without stopping to ask: Is this actually working for the people it's supposed to help?
What’s the problem?
People are trying to keep up with something they can't keep up with—and blaming themselves for falling behind.
The pace of technology is accelerating faster than anyone can reasonably adapt to, especially those already struggling with access, education, or time. Instead of making life easier, tech often makes people feel inadequate, overwhelmed, or left out.
Why is this Initiative important?
Because our ultimate humanity rests on our ability to thrive, not just survive.
When technology becomes the default answer to every problem—but is built without considering real people—it creates systems that work for profit, not for people. That’s not innovation; that’s exclusion. We must re-center design, policy, and development around human needs—especially those of the most vulnerable.
What is my goal?
To spark global awareness, change the conversation, and influence policy and infrastructure that puts people first.
The goal is to shift mindsets—from “how can we get everyone to use tech” to “what specific thing can tech do to help that doesn’t require someone to change who they are just to survive?” This means designing tools that adapt to people, not the other way around.
What actions will I take?
- Speak out through storytelling, writing, and real-life examples of people being left behind by well-meaning but inaccessible tech.
- Gain reach by inviting others—especially women, caregivers, and system thinkers—to share their experiences with exclusion and adaptation.
- Change minds by publishing thought pieces, visuals, and resources that challenge the “tech-for-everything” mindset and offer people-first alternatives.
- Build momentum toward long-term policy and infrastructure change that doesn’t just hand out devices—but delivers real support in human terms.
This initiative isn’t anti-tech.
It’s pro-human.
Because tech is just a tool.
And tools should fit the hands that hold them.
