My life...

I just recently came to the conclusion that I am not excellent at anything.

I dance, obviously. I have danced with a renowned group - Gflames for three years.

There is a time I thought I could sing Mariah Carey under the table, yeah I was in the Royal Priesthood Choir.

Well, I am really versatile at sports — literally all sports, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, football, handball and the infamous bad minton. 

I will consider myself a video gamer, I am near perfect at Playstation, FIFA being my preference

None of these loves even dare compete with the love, passion and addiction I have for programming.

My journey…

The first time I wrote ‘Hello World’ as a line of code was in November 2017. Before then, I’d ask myself how programmers did it. I will spend countless hours fantasizing about the day I will be able to do as much as build a website using any programming language. 

My zeal was cut short, as the only programmers I knew were seven-hours drive away from me. I remember a time, someone tried to teach me PHP on Whatsapp, ironical right?. Yeah, my thoughts exactly.

Nothing was going to stop this girl, neither crook nor crane. I was determined! . I started to search extensively online. I stumbled across w3schools and I thought this was a good resource, right up till the point where my entire city was cut off internet because of political crises.

Back to being stranded. 

Then Now…

With a dream, a zeal, and a frustrated look, I took a journey that will forever change my life. I traveled to the capital city, and there I was exposed to all the resources possible. People, upon seeing my determination decided to offer me all the help I could get. I had online resources, codeacademy, udemy, and a host of other online platforms did offer me the perfect basics.

As soon as I could boast of HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap, I hurriedly started building my ever first website ‘Wulwi’ and then some other web applications.

Today, I have a perfect mastery of PHP, and Python. I have built some way cooler web applications, and some financial softwares too. 

I will be hosting my ever first open door event on the 27th of April for all girls interested in starting a career in ICT. This is in commemoration of the International Day of Girls in ICT.

And finally, I can say.. "I am good at programming", not perfect - good

and like the non mediocre person I am, I will say 'being perfect at something is not overrated'
