Thank You Changemakers

This month, I and a number of changemakers paused.

The skies seem bluer, the wind gentler and the sun warmer

as if the communities in which we live are trying to say what words cannot.

The peace for which we advocate for is finally calling.

A changemaker, a voice that refused to be silenced has finally broken barriers

and reached the high table.

And yet a certain voice seems to over shadow it.

But as changemakers and the voice, we will speak.

Thank you, changemakers

Thank you for daring to dream when dreaming seem impossible.

For standing tall when the society tries to bend you in a number of ways.

And maintaining that change can still have a conscience,

that change can still be served to serve the communities,

and that love for communities is a sacred calling.

Thank you for carrying cries of the communities on your back through storms,

for lifting one another through ideas to bring the required change

in your respective communities.

You bear the burden of girls, women, children with one hand

protecting the crown of well-deserved dream on your head

so it won't fall and not to drop the one heave of a big sigh

of peace for the good of all.

You turn the pain into power to produce result from pure hearts.

The moral kind that no distraction of finger pointing can replace.

Your footsteps will echo in the corridors of justice, equity, dignity,

empowerment, nurture, transformation and above all PEACE and

your courage will outlive any calendar of days.
