Title: The African Child Writes — Because Every Child Has a Story
We’ve given the girl child pads (and we still are).
We’ve fought to keep children in school.
Now, it’s time to give them something else — a voice.
The African Child Writes is a bold initiative to help children from underserved communities across Africa discover the power of storytelling. Through writing and art, we’re creating safe spaces for children to express themselves, be mentored, published, and even paid for their work.
At the heart of this movement is The Hut of Stories — a publishing house exclusively for children and young people. We’re building more than books. We’re building confidence, ownership, and economic empowerment for the next generation.
As part of this movement, we’re launching a pilot project called The Owo Child Writes, which will take place in Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria. This project will focus on:
Training children in creative writing and storytelling
Helping them explore and express their thoughts through words and art
Mentoring them to write their own book
Publishing and promoting their work to a global audience
It’s a deeply local initiative with a global vision — proving that children in small communities have big stories the world needs to hear.
We are seeking collaborators, donors, mentors, educators, and changemakers who believe in the power of writing to transform lives. If you believe every child has a story that deserves to be heard, let’s work together.
Let’s give African children the tools, the stage, and the freedom to write their world.
