The best time to plant a tree...

They say the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, but the next best time is today.
That saying has always stuck with me, because it reminds me that it’s never really too late to begin again. I use it a lot to push myself whenever I start finding reasons why I can’t do something anymore. You know how it goes, you delay, you procrastinate, you keep putting it off, and then when you finally feel ready to start, another voice creeps in telling you, “It’s too late now. You should have done this long ago. There’s no point anymore.”
But here’s the truth, the only real “too late” is when you never try. The last nine months might not have gone the way you wanted. Maybe you had big goals for the year and you feel like time slipped away. Maybe life happened, responsibilities, setbacks, circumstances beyond your control. Or maybe it was plain old procrastination. Whatever the reason, don’t let that stop you. Because the beautiful thing about today is that it still counts. Today is another chance. Today is another page. Today can be your fresh start.
Now here we are, the 10th month of the year. October. The year is wrapping up, and many people are already saying “it’s over.” But you know what? It’s not over. Not yet. There’s still room to plant, to start, to move forward. This new month is a gift, and it’s a reminder that no matter how the first nine months went, the last three can still bloom with something beautiful.
So if there’s that one thing you’ve been carrying in your heart, whether it’s starting a project, writing the book, picking up that course, launching your business, or even something personal like building better habits, this is your sign to plant the seed now. Don’t focus on how much time has passed or how much you think you’ve lost. Focus on the fact that you still have today. Imagine how much further ahead you’ll be if you choose to start now instead of waiting for the perfect moment (because the perfect moment never really comes).
Stop dwelling on “I should have started earlier” and start embracing “I’m starting today.” Because one day, the version of you five years from now will look back and thank you for not giving up when it felt too late, but for choosing to plant your seed anyway.
It is a new week. Start today. Plant the seed. Your future self is waiting to harvest the fruit of the decision you make now.
Have a great week!
