The change a Mom wants for her daughters and sons.

Mom's secret letter.

Dear daughter,

When you were but a little pulse of life inside me, I dreamed of your pretty room, I bought the softest things I could find. I filled your tiny world with all the love a mom has. When you started to learn to sit, I put pillows all around you so that when you fall it would be a soft landing. When you learned to crawl and walk I baby proofed the house.

One day I looked up and you were no longer little. I realized you were a child, but a predator was watching you play in the playground. I broke your innocence that day when I made you wear pants under your pretty dress. You could barely talk, but I had to teach you to sit right so the monster would not watch you and think what he thinks.

You were supposed to learn about growing up and becoming a young woman. Yet with that special talk came the bad talk also. That day I spoke to you about what was to come and what was to fear.

I broke my own heart because when you met a boy you liked I had to explain again... and pray that a mom taught her son what is in my heart as a mom and hers as a mom... as women.

Now you are engaged and soon to be married and I know how easy it would be for a man you love to become the monster that lives inside your heart and eats your happiness. Where will I find enough pillows to put around you so you will not fall on a hard floor? Where can I find pants that will never be ripped from your body by a monster? How do I woman proof the world for the daughter I love with all my heart?

Keep safe with all my love,

Mom

Dear son,

I love you; I believe in you, I trust you, I am proud of you,

but understand that that girl you look at,

the one that holds your hand,

the girl who one day walk with you down the isle...

her mother is just like me.

She too ripped her heart out when she had to tell her daughter the truth of the world we live in. She also pray for a way to woman proof the world for her daughter... don't be the monster my son. Be the man I know you are.

Be happy and with all my love,

Mom
