The Future of the Girlchild is in Different angles of Education

As i was going through my Newspaper publications Archive looking for inspiration on what to write about #internationaldayofgirlchild2024, i came across this picture of one of my youth program some years back in Nigeria. The topic for this seminar was - Consequencees of Early sex. I invited both girls and boys high schools then but my major focus was the girlchild, teenage girls in high school to be educated on the dangers of having early sex. Such topic are hardly taught at school the way it should be to make the girlchild understand how dangerous having early sex could be.

Most times, people feel education should be confined only within the four walls of schools. I disagree!

Parents feel shy educating their children about sex. They pass it on to the school which also don't think it's appropriate to teach sex education.

Education can take place anywhere. Infact most education that creates lasting benefits happens outside the four walls of our schools. (If you understand what i mean)

As the world remembers the day set aside to appreciate the girlchild, @gwammawomen joins every advocates, activists, humanitarians around the world celebrating the girls in his/her community.

The Theme for this year is-"Girls Vision for the future "

"Let us imbibe the versatility of different angles of Life Education to shape the future of our girlchild in our society, family, church, mosque and everywhere we found ourselves."

When you see a girl child in need of guide and directions about lifestyle, don't just look away and feel unconcerned because, she is not your race or practice the same religion with you. By guiding and supporting her, you are shaping the girl's vision for her future.

Educating the girlchild cannot be left for teachers at our various schools alone. Whatever we feel we can do in our little capacity to shape the future of our girlchild, let's be happy doing it.💜📍
