There are several social issues affecting the girl child, but there is one I want to scream about so everyone can hear.
We keep repeating mistakes made by our parents; the women who raised us fell into this same trap. They were too busy to pay attention to their girl child.
A young girl meets a guy she has been crushing on, and she will do anything just to get his attention. She sleeps with the guy, and they have a child; both parents realise it was a mistake. I wasn't thinking straight. I don't want to be with you.
Some broken girls were made in broken relationships; some just couldn't get their parents' attention.
Our society preys on the innocent, broken girl who is just looking for love. She has lots of questions, but no one seems to proffer answers.
Another girl leaves with parents who fight and shout at each other. She didn't ask to be a part of this, but she really wants love, peace, and quiet.
She is willing to give up her life for a day of peace. Just to have a calm, sweet, and loving atmosphere.
She can't focus on her education. She can hear her mother scream for help as she is beaten mercilessly. Her teacher in math class calls for her attention; she is lost in thought.
She responds, I am very sorry, sir.
He enquired, Are you okay?" I have been calling you.
How can a broken girl live a normal life? She is afraid of going home. There wouldn't be dinner any night there is a fight.
The home has become a battlefield instead of a place where geniuses can be nurtured.
Who thinks about the broken girl?
Who knows her pain?
Who cares about her ?
She will ask herself
Is life really worth it?
Do I even exist?
Do I matter?
Who cares if I die?
This leads to depression and withdrawal from life, people, and society.
There are several girls who carry so much weight. I have met girls who just feel like giving up.
Please check on your daughter, niece, or sister; she needs a shoulder to cry on.
This is for every female who has been in pain, who has been alone.
I see you.
Don't carry this burden alone. Find someone you can talk to. Our girls need us; please listen.
