Fatma was an artist, full of color and creativity, painting murals across the walls of Istanbul. She was a proud advocate for women's rights, often using her art to express the struggles women face in her country. However, her personal life was a stark contrast to the vibrant colors of her art. She lived in fear of her abusive husband. The years of emotional manipulation and physical violence left Fatma feeling hollow. She felt unable to leave, trapped in a marriage where she had no control. But one fateful evening, as she walked through the crowded streets of Istanbul, Fatma heard a loud, fiery protest. Women, young and old, were marching, shouting, demanding an end to femicide and violence against women. For the first time, Fatma felt the strength of solidarity, and in that moment, she knew she had to escape. She found refuge in a women's shelter and slowly began to rebuild her life. Now, Fatma’s murals not only tell the stories of suffering but also of survival. She uses her art to stand in defiance against the societal silence surrounding femicide in Turkey, urging other women to speak out.
