A day will come when books are no longer a threat, and girls are not prosecuted simply for the "crime" of reading.

Until the pen writes freedom again,

until every page becomes a reason to live, not a reason to fear,

until no girl has to hide her dreams in the dark - this painting will remain as a vow of defiance.

A vow to the book she holds,

and to the light inside her heart that can never be extinguished.
