I was scrolling through one of my meta app, when I came across the story of a family celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary, I felt happy for them ,ten years together is no small milestone. But as I looked at their family pictures, something hit me deeply, their special needs daughter was missing. The reason given was that she's not in their location, but then there are still in the same country.
Honestly, that doesn’t sit well with me. A family picture, especially on such a milestone, should reflect everyone, not just the convenient part of the family. But let’s be real. With all the planning that went into that celebration, they couldn’t plan a way to include her? Distance is never a real excuse, especially with today’s technology, pictures can be taken separately and merged, or even a simple gesture like holding her photo would have shown she wasn’t forgotten.
Leaving her out totally paints a painful picture of neglect. Every child , whether living with special needs or not, deserves to feel seen, loved, and celebrated. If we don’t consciously include them in moments that matter, we risk sending a silent but damaging message that they don’t count as much as others.
Family is meant to be whole. Love is meant to be unconditional. And inclusion, especially for children with special needs, isn’t optional ,it’s essential.
Have a splendid weekend my Bold and Beautiful Women😊
PS: This special need child happens to be their first child and only daughter.
