Yesterday, while I was surfing the internet I found a news titled “Torture for not giving birth to a child” by Anjan Dhakal in a website USNEPALINEWS which was published in Nepali. Rama Kumal, who lived in Chisapani, Makar-1, Nawalparasi, was tortured her mother-in-law, Bali Kumal, because she was unable to give birth to a child after her two years married. Bali threw hot tea in the face of Rama’s that has burned.
Two years ago, Rama fell in love and married with an army, Bal Bahadur Kumal. Their neighbors said that when Rama’s husband came to home, he listened to his mother not his wife. She was tortured everyday from her mother-in-law. She told this to reporter when she came to do treatment in family planning Association of Nepal and case the file. She then tried getting legal process through her parents, when her mother in law started tortured extremely.
Local organizations suggest Rama for calling her husband and having a talk. Rama’s case has challenged to those organizations who are working to reduce domestic violence.
