In a powerful collaborative partnership between CWE-TECH and Tafara Wellness Initiative, a Trainer of Trainers course was delivered under the theme: “Women in Tech & Mental Health: Driving Change Together.”
This course, facilitated by Tafara Wellness Initiative, equipped the staff of the Centre for Women Empowerment in Technology (CWE-TECH) with vital skills in:
✅ Creating safe and inclusive mentorship spaces
✅ Enhancing digital literacy and access to education
✅ Promoting mental health and emotional resilience
These skills have already begun to create ripples of transformation. One such story is that of Wamah, a Form 3 student from Murang'a County, who had silently struggled with overwhelming anxiety and depression after losing her guardian during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During a routine school mentorship session led by one of our newly trained CWE-TECH mentors, Wamah opened up for the first time. The safe space created allowed her to express emotions she had buried for years. The mentor, now equipped with practical mental health support skills, quickly linked her to a local counselor. Today, Wamah is not only receiving support bt also she has re-engaged in her studies, is part of a peer-support group, supporting many students in school.
This is just one story among many. Since the training, our mentors have reached over 450 students, and our other staff running the Women's project have connected with 11 women’s groups, impacting 385 women with vital mental health and digital empowerment tools.
This partnership is more than a training; it's a catalyst for healing, empowerment, and resilience in communities often left behind. Together, we are not only raising awareness but driving real, lasting change.
