I'm grateful to the Global Partnership for Education _Transforming Education in South Sudan for investing in the Education system of our country.
Today in South Sudan, over 2.8 million children are out of school and these children are not just out of school because they want to but because they face challenges each day that prevent them from enjoying their rights and working towards their future. Poverty is one of the biggest challenges that prevent children from going to school in South Sudan as most parents who are civil servants are not given their salaries on time, sometimes the salaries which is even not enough is given after 7 or 8 months and by the time they get it, it'll only be enough for feeding and other basic things.
Other things like climate change also prevent children from going to school as most parts of South Sudan are affected by floods, so you find children staying home for a period of about 3 months without going to school because their classrooms, roads and homes are flooded, so these children end up lurking behind as the rest of their colleagues from the other parts of the country are going ahead, so most of these children end up dropping out of school.
These are only but a few things that prevent over 2.8 million children from going to school in South Sudan today, Every child deserves the right to Education regardless of gender, age, status or Name and when we invest in education, we invest in the future and therefore I'm grateful to each and every organization, government, people who make sure that All children have access to go to school and who tirelessly invest in education.
Children are the future of today and tomorrow.
Let's invest in them and invest in the future and Nation's development and the world at large.
