Trust the Author of Your Story
There’s an African proverb that says: “Instead of trusting in foolishness, trust the Author because He holds the pen and will always write your story again… and again, without judgment.”
That saying has carried me through moments when life felt like a page torn out mid-sentence. Times when plans collapsed, confidence waned, and I questioned whether I’d ever find balance again. But each time, I’ve learned that there’s a quiet power in surrender — in allowing life (or God, or whatever you believe to be greater than yourself) to rewrite the story with wisdom you didn’t know you had.
In professional spaces, we often feel pressured to script perfection — flawless resumes, polished presentations, unwavering confidence. But what if the power lies not in control, but in trust? Trust that your story isn’t finished, that your mistakes don’t define you, and that you can begin again — with grace.
This message resonates deeply with mental health and resilience. Many professionals face invisible battles — burnout, self-doubt, imposter syndrome — all rooted in the belief that we must get it right the first time. But the truth is, growth is messy. Healing takes edits. Purpose unfolds in rewrites.
Each “failure” can be a paragraph that shapes our wisdom. Each “pause” can be punctuation — a comma, not a full stop. The Author of your story hasn’t stopped writing; He’s just taking time to refine the narrative so you can read it with strength later.
So today, I choose to trust the Author — to let go of the need for certainty, and instead, embrace the process. If you’re walking through a rough chapter, remember: it’s only one part of your book. The next page could surprise you.
Keep showing up. Keep trusting. The pen is still moving.
