Twana Lawler: A Beacon of Hope and Resilience

Twana Lawler is an AIDS survivor and motivational speaker

from Louisville, KY, now living in Atlanta, GA. Her inspiring story resonates

with anyone looking for healing and change in their lives. As a multifaceted

creative, Twana wears many hats—she is a screenwriter, playwright, poet, gospel

songwriter, and author. Through her heartfelt stories about love, life, and

relationships, she reflects on the myriad challenges she has faced and

overcome, providing hope and inspiration to others on similar journeys.

Twana was born in Kentucky and grew up in a stable

middle-class family. However, her life took a tragic turn when her father died

by suicide when she was just twelve years old. This devastating event marked

the beginning of a tumultuous journey filled with struggles, yet Twana has

shown incredible strength and resilience. She has bravely overcome harrowing

experiences of sexual abuse, alcoholism, domestic violence, and the profound

trauma of having her children taken from her by an abusive ex-partner. During

these challenges, Twana has held a strong belief that sharing information with

others—through listening, understanding, and connecting on a personal

level—brings healing...” This philosophy drives her commitment to helping

others find their paths to recovery and self-acceptance.

In 2013, Twana faced a life-altering challenge when she was

diagnosed with full-blown AIDS, along with battles against dementia and

depression. Despite being given only two weeks to live, Twana's spirit remains

indomitable. Against all odds, she has declared her AIDS status healed since

2014, a testament to her unwavering faith, the transformative power of therapy,

and the relentless support of her daughters. The cruelty she faced at the hands

of a so-called minister of music, who intentionally transmitted HIV to her

after she urged him to wear a condom, could have broken her spirit. Instead,

Twana chose to transform this pain into purpose, believing that what seemed

harmful to her was ultimately turned into something good by God, benefiting not

only her but also countless others who hear her story.

Through her creative endeavors, Twana Lawler has touched the

lives of countless individuals and has become a beacon of hope for many. Her

films—Who Did I Marry, God’s Precious Jewels, and When a Woman’s Fed

Up—are available for streaming on Amazon Prime, showcasing her talent and

dedication to storytelling. Additionally, her gospel stage play, Love

Happened by Chance, received acclaim during its performances in New York City,

further solidifying her status as a significant voice in the arts. With a rich

portfolio that includes articles, screenplays, and stage plays, Twana continues

to break barriers in the creative world while advocating for mental health

awareness and the importance of self-love.

Twana is eager to share her story and insights as a speaker

at various events, including empowerment gatherings, workshops, and

conferences. She is also available for TV and radio appearances, where she can

reach even broader audiences with her inspirational message. Interested
