VERDURE

Verdure - 1st Edition

Verdure is an English word that quite simply means life, health and vigor.

Their is no greater abuse that any woman can face than Gender Based Violence, it goes to the core of ones femininity and is one of the traumatising experience one can ever face.

The scar cannot be healed by any form of financial compensation, no words can change, some have unfortunately livid experiences of even having children from their abusers - a painful memoir that has to sadly linger for the rest of their lives.

Women and girls face abuse, UN Women noting that at least 1 in 3 women have experienced physical and or sexual violence.

How do we move from here; by providing different platforms where they can share their stories unhindered, get expert tips on post the traumatic experiences and even find a new lease of life to reinegrate and restore those areas that were deeply affected by the violations.

It is against this backdrop that Verdure, a Digital Magazine seeks to give the lease of life to every Woman and Girl who has been both directly and indirectly affected by Gender Based Violence.

You can live again and flourish - that is the message we seek to pass.

This was born out of a prayer and indeed everything about it has been nothing short of grace!

In July/August the idea kicked off, we shared our 1st Poster inviting calls for article submission

It was slow but the submissions in line with our 1st theme; GBVSRHR in the Digital Era; A Panacea or Challenge in the 21st Century

Coincidentaly this has just aligned with the current theme of the 16 Days of Activism 2025 - End Digital Violence against all Women and Girls

The responses were quite solid, though provoking and yes resonate with the sometimes hidden experience of every woman and girl.

We coined our main segment; This Woman's Story must be told and Adah Muyang's story is suis generis and we hope will inspire many

Our team consolidated them and we got our first cover waiting to launch online in a few.....!

Remember no matter your experience - sometimes sharing that experience will help another person get out of their similar or even more painful box!
