"VOF Week 3: (Learning to Blog)."

story
When i read the assignment for this week i thought, wow, where do i begin? This is because i was just recently introduced to blogging through researching the internet and seeing peoples blogs on different issues. It is quite an interesting way to communicate and speak out your issues, it's like having an unknown counselor, where you share your feelings, views and someone out there, who you don't know and have never met, comments on your status or gives you advice according to how best they deal with the situation themselves. I'm still learning. I had an experience towards the end of last year whereby i was researching on a certain issue on Relief work and suddenly i find a blog of someone i know very well where she gives a very detailed account of how she experienced the loss of a close friend and all that she went through.....every little detail. It helped me understand her. When one gets into blogging, you expose your personal life to the world out there, you may not know who's reading your blog but someone is definitely reading it. This may be a positive or negative thing.
A major challenge i find with blogging is security. One really does not know who will read your blog, and this can be dangerous especially when a person with wrong intentions gets your information. This could be prevented by either not giving so much of your personal information, like mentioning names of places you're at or visit frequently and also avoiding information that will lead one to where you are, or by giving access to only those people who you know and not everybody. Other challenges i face especially now that I'm part of the World Pulse community is finding time to blog and give views on different issues. I find myself too busy with other urgent matter regarding my work and its quite challenging to play an active role, despite the fact that i enjoy writing and have access to internet for at least 12 hours a day. My work as an Administrative assistant keeps me on toes throughout and getting free time is not easy.
Time is of essence in blogging, one needs it to give helpful and clear information. It is not something that one does when you're in a hurry because you're writing for others to see. I try to find time at the end of every week to read blogs and don't always comment as i believe it is not necessary to say anything all the time, what i comment must make sense to my readers and must bring across the point clearly. I also avoid giving very personal information on the internet unless it is directed to an individual. Blogging may also be secured by giving access to only people that one invites to their blogs and not everybody, like in Face book.
