Washington intervenes to stop the bloodshed in Sudan

US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Minion Houston confirmed that Washington continues its engagement in the Sudanese crisis without taking sides,

emphasizing that the United States' priority is to stop the fighting and support the Sudanese people's aspirations for a civilian government.

In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, Houston explained that the US administration, despite recent military developments, remains committed to the need to end hostilities immediately, in cooperation with regional partners, to ensure conditions are in place for a stable political transition.

The US official indicated that her country continues to impose sanctions on the parties involved in the conflict as a means of pressuring them to end the war, emphasizing that Sudan is experiencing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, which calls for concerted international efforts to support those affected and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.
