The Government of India and various state governments offer several schemes to support marriages, including financial assistance.

Indians spend twice as much on weddings than education and this headline has inspired me to do research on it.

I have just taken the example of Gujarat Government as I haven’t got proper data that how much amount government of India spends on wedding assistance schemes.

Kunvarbai Nu Mameru Yojana:

This scheme provides financial assistance for the marriage of daughters from socially and economically weaker families, with a direct bank transfer of Rs. 10,000.

Marriage Assistance Scheme (Gujarat Labour Welfare Board):

This scheme provides financial assistance of ₹11,000 to female workers employed in factories/organizations in Gujarat after their marriage.

Mai Ramabai Sat Fera Samuh Lagna Yojana:

This scheme provides an incentive of Rs. 5000 to couples getting married under a mass marriage program where a minimum of 10 couples get married.

Financial Assistance for “Saat Fera Community Marriage”:

This scheme provides financial assistance for community marriages.

Kanya Vivah Sahayta Yojana:

This scheme provides financial assistance for the marriage of daughters of registered construction workers.

RMEWF-Financial assistance for marriage of daughters of ESM:

This scheme provides financial assistance of Rs 50,000 per daughter for marriages solemnized after 01 Apr 2016.

It just concerns Gujarat.  Some claim that we only want cultural girls, yet each state has its own program to help girls and their parents to get married their daughter.  It isn't true.   No matter who you are, marriage is the foundation of every Indian girl, and the government has actual data showing that it spends a significant amount of money to support the parents of females.  It should be noted, however, that there is no program for girls from middle-class households.

The number will help you realise the value of marriage and the true purpose for it. Rape on the violation of commitment to marry.  To discover the true rationale behind it, one can watch the we series "Dahad."

On other side we should take a note of government spend on education. There are six schemes named Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,  Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, CBSE Udaan Scholarship Programme, National Scheme of incentive to girls for secondary Education, SABLA Yojana and Kasturba Gandhi Balik Vidyalaya Scheme.
