When a Drone Struck Hope in Tunisian Waters

In September 2025, off the coast of Sidi Bou Said, Tunisia, a vessel named "Family" became the target of a drone strike. This wasn't just any boat ,it was part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian mission aiming to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza. The attack, though causing no casualties, was a stark reminder of the lengths to which some will go to silence efforts for peace and justice.
The flotilla, carrying activists from 44 countries, including Greta Thunberg and Ada Colau, had docked in Tunisia to prepare for their journey to Gaza. But as they anchored, a drone released an incendiary device onto the "Family," setting it ablaze. Tunisian authorities initially denied the drone strike, attributing the fire to an onboard incident. However, video footage shared by the flotilla showed a luminous object descending onto the ship, igniting the flames.
This attack was not an isolated incident. It was part of a broader pattern of aggression against those seeking to aid Palestinians.
But the story doesn't end with the attack. The flotilla's resolve only strengthened. Despite the intimidation, they remained committed to their mission: delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza and challenging the blockade that has led to a humanitarian crisis.
This incident also brings to light the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Over 64,000 Palestinians have died since October 2023 due to Israeli assaults and the blockade. The international community has condemned these actions, with organizations like Amnesty International labeling them as genocide. Yet, the world watches, often in silence.
Seeing this, I can’t help but wish more people would raise awareness about Palestine right here on World Pulse. It’s one thing to scroll past news, another to make voices heard, share stories, and demand justice. Every post, every conversation matters.
