Where does Peace start? It starts from you!

I was recently in Kenya where I attended Peace Connect and also led a session on Creative resistance by young women. My biggest learning and takeaway was how peace starts from our own selves?

For me Peace means freedom and agency, for me peace starts with ourselves, in our homes and in our communities when we show compassion and kindness to the people around us.

I am grateful that I was able to meet so many other young peace builders who are working so hard to bring peace to their communities.

Peace Starts Here” is both a call to action and a reminder that peace isn’t something distant or abstract — it begins in the smallest, most personal spaces of our lives. It starts in the way we think, speak, and treat ourselves and others. True peace grows from empathy, from choosing understanding over judgment, and from seeing the humanity in everyone we encounter. When we learn to calm our inner conflicts and extend that stillness outward, we begin to transform our homes, workplaces, and communities.

At its heart, “Peace Starts Here” invites us to take responsibility for the energy we bring into the world. Each act of kindness, every moment of listening instead of reacting, and every effort to repair harm becomes a seed of peace. It’s not about perfection or grand gestures — it’s about the daily practice of compassion and awareness that slowly builds a more just and gentle world.
