White anime fanboys getting upset over politics in English dubbed anime

Do you ever get tired of hearing the same old stories about how everything is becoming political or “woke” nowadays? You’ve heard it regarding movies and tv, and now the same conservatives are complaining all the same over anime.

For example, I’ve recently watched a video about Puyo Puyo (a puzzle type game) and the guy reviewing it (I’m not going to mention what his name is) complains about the earlier games are horribly translated when imported to the West. While I can agree with that part, my sympathy for him stops there.

Meaning, he then goes on to complain about how today’s English dubbed anime won’t stop talking about politics or current events and he wants it to stop. In one anime, he complains about how the patriarchy is mentioned as if calling out the patriarchy is a bad thing.

I find this not only laughable but also cringeworthy, as not only do these white and male as fuck weeaboos don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about but they’re also cherry-picking.

And cherry-picking indeed as I can think of one perfect example that will make their argument look stupid: Sailor Moon. The ORIGINAL Sailor Moon from the 90’s. You know where I’m going. One episode has Usagi, Ami, and Rei meeting up with one of Queen Beryl’s minion Jedeite (I apologize for screwing up the spelling of his name) who the latter makes misogynistic remarks. In response, the Inner Sailor Senshi call him out and before defeating him, they say “down with patriarchy”. And by the way, that was from the original Japanese version. Look it up if you’re a Sailor Moon fan.

My point is, the patriarchy (and other aspects related to politics) is nothing new as the weeaboos like to complain about. Most will excuse it as “wanting imported stuff to retain the original source”, and while that is one issue that can be considered valid, my argument however is that excuse only exists to invalidate and discriminate against viewers who are women, people of color, transgender, intersex, non-binary, gay, neurodivergent, etc. Everything is political, and regarding the situation in today’s society, it is absolutely necessary.

The majority of anime fans in the West are white men, and regarding the extreme backlash against “woke propaganda”, it’s not hard to figure out whom the anime media is supposedly catering towards. They don’t see women as people, they just want pillows of their “waifu’s” that will appeal to their never satisfied sex drives. Japan is not the “super submissive” country that white men want to believe as feminism is common in there as well as many other countries in Africa, Eastern Europe, and Asia. They love to berate the shit out of dubbing companies for knowing nothing about Japanese culture all while they themselves have zero knowledge about Japanese culture. Talk about irony.

Regarding the sexualization of women, especially those that are minors, it’s not hard to see why weeaboos hate “wokeness” in their anime. They hate being called out for their bullshit so they get defensive about it and scream “WOKE!!” as a gotcha moment. There are far too many other issues that need to be addressed and going through all of them will take forever.
