White House: Washington Deeply Engaged in Sudan Ceasefire Talks

The White House confirmed on Tuesday that the United States is "deeply" engaged in diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement in Sudan, where violent fighting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces has continued for more than two and a half years.

White House spokeswoman Carolyn Leavitt told reporters, "The administration is very much engaged in talks aimed at ending the fighting in Sudan," emphasizing that Washington "seeks to see a peaceful end to this conflict, as it has done in many other conflicts."

Leavitt added that "the situation on the ground is very complex at the moment," but explained that the US administration continues to work with its regional and international partners to push the Sudanese parties toward ending the bloodshed.
