Who I am when nobody’s watching?

One day our school English teacher assigned all the students to prepare a speech on “Who am I?” and I remember exactly how I was wondering the answer. It wasn’t that I didn’t know myself, it was the struggle of choosing which version of “me” to write about.I’m with different people and it took me time to realise that my favourite version of me is the one that comes out when no one’s around or when my actions aren’t captured.

Aren’t we different when nobody’s watching us? When no eyes are judging us? Our walk, tone expressions, dressing and everything that defines our personality. Everything changes in a blink of an eye.

You know we all have evil parts within us. When no one’s around, we may become selfish or just we can say that we let out our buried emotions.

But maybe there’s kindness within us too. When no one’s watching, we still smile with love and trying to be the best version of ourselves.

So who are we when nobody’s watching us? What do we do when no eyes are on us? When we aren’t being judged for our every action, when our moves aren’t captured by anyone?

Are we still ourselves ?
