Why are we still using “masculine” and “feminine” and relating them to gender identity?

Nothing rubs me off more than people who use the words “masculine” and “feminine” and connect them with gender. It honestly makes no fucking sense. Why is it when a man tries to express his emotions in a healthy manner, it’s “unmanly”? Why is it when a woman has normal bodily functions such as burping and farting, it’s “unfeminine” or “unladylike”?

The ideals of what makes a man or a woman has brought nothing but harm. In other words, it’s a social construct. There are far too many cults surrounding this idea, harming women who are unable to fit into being a “lady” and men who don’t fit the standard of being a “real man”.

Like what in the actual hell does having a specific hobby or having a particular interest or dislike have to do with gender? Because it doesn’t. It’s nauseating to me how you have to ostracize someone for their interests and dislikes just because of their genitals.

Can we please just ditch “masculine” and “feminine” altogether and focus on more important things in life?
