My Story
My name is Daphine Dutch, (Vivian Babirye)founder of New Day Initiative.
I grew up in Uganda facing many of the same challenges that many vulnerable children experience today. My siblings and I attended public schools, and I often watched other children receive support from sponsors and organizations. Like many young people growing up in difficult circumstances, I hoped that one day someone would notice my struggles and help me achieve my dreams.
As a child, I met kind people from different countries who showed me compassion and encouragement. Their kindness left a lasting impact on my life and taught me that even a small act of support can change someone’s future.
At the same time, I witnessed situations where help did not always reach the children it was intended for. Those experiences stayed with me and inspired me to dream of creating something different—something built on honesty, compassion, and genuine care for children and families in need.
In 2026, while trying to raise support for my father’s situation, I began reflecting on my own journey. Around the same time, my brother introduced me to the stories of children living with sickle cell disease and facing serious challenges. Their stories touched my heart deeply and reminded me of the struggles I had witnessed growing up.
That was the beginning of New Day Initiative.
New Day Initiative is a youth-led initiative dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and families through community outreach, awareness, education support, healthcare advocacy, and acts of kindness. Our goal is to bring hope, dignity, and opportunity to those who need it most.
What started as a dream is now becoming a reality. Every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported. Through New Day Initiative, I hope to create the kind of positive change I once wished for as a child.
A New Day, A New Chance, A New Hope.
