Why So Much Pressure??

Becoming Me

I ran out of toothpaste and bathing soap, so I stopped by a mall to get a few things. As I walked in, the first section I saw was for women.

I paused. What I saw made me reflect.

Every label on the shelf seemed to say the same thing:

“Anti-ageing.”

“Firming.”

“Repair.”

“Restore.”

“Reverse.”

“Lighten your skin.”

“Breast enhancement.”

“Hair coloring.”…

It was subtle, but clear.

Like something about women needed fixing.

Out of curiosity, I checked another section and this time, for men.

Simple products. Basic care. Nothing telling them to turn back time.

In that moment, it dawned on me.

Women are under a quiet kind of pressure.

Then I smiled to myself because I realized something:

Everyone is dealing with one issue or another.

So why am I panicking?

I am doing well.

Thank you, GOD.

That moment reminded me why the work we do as women matters.

Why women-led initiatives need to be supported.

Why young girls need to be heard, guided, and protected because the pressure is real.

I see it in the girls I meet.

One is worried about her hair.

Another about her body.

Another about not feeling accepted.

Why so much pressure?

Women need space to breathe.

To grow without pressure.

To age without fear.

To be accepted as they are.

To be love so they can blossom.

To be nurtured — not constantly corrected.

So I made a quiet decision.

I will not live under pressure.

This life is a gift.

And I am learning to live it fully.

I am growing older — and I love it.

I am not trying to reverse anything.

I wake up grateful.

I thank God, the giver of life, daily.

I am learning to put my problems in proper perspective…

to grow through them, not shrink.

Now, I feel unstoppable.

More grounded.

More sure.

More at peace with who I am.

Everything I have lived through — the mistakes, the lessons, the growth —

is fueling the journey ahead and maybe this is where it begins.

When we stop asking,

“Why so much pressure?”

…and start choosing differently.
