Sage Steadman said "They looked to each other for support, for strength, and at times, motivation, to remember why and for whom they lived" As women we are living in an age where technology is dominating almost every geographical location of this world and every area of our lives. It has redefined the way in which we do even everyday things.
Privacy as we knew it no longer exist, technology has opened the avenues for education, facilitates the environment for empowerment, support, used to change policies, legislation's and laws.
This digital age has also changed the way in which many socialize, social gatherings are now used to show case ones digital expertises, ones latest exploits on the web, encouraging others to join a website, group, or organization, or to just share a friends photo or status. It is now the main medium for advertising and cause promoting.
Women use digital media for some of the following reasons: to advertise the latest product or find, keep conference meetings, video chat with family, friends, acquaintances or strangers, seek love, share the latest app, seek group support, resources, news, information and much more.
The digital age has brought with it positive and negative influences and uses, many use this platform to dehumanize, exploit, and shame women and girls.
It is imperative, for us as women to become digitally educated and empowered, it is our duty and it is our right. We must work together, drawing on each others strengths to make a lasting and positive impact in the world, and binding together to strengthen the weak.
Through digital media our voices must be heard, our work given a space , we have the opportunity to network with women and communities around the globe, digital empowerment helps us to support and encourage other women and girls, as they seek to make a difference.
We must utilize the tools of the day, the Internet, mobile devices and computers to lend support to every woman and girl who sits quietly behind a computer, we need to be the harbingers of empowerment and education by sending out a call and lobbing for every woman to have free access to a computer and the Internet.
Every woman has a story to tell, an experience to share, a campaign to sign, as we work towards change, and a society free of violence, inequality, illiteracy, and dependency. Education brings power and women must be educated to become confident powerful, and positively empowered.
As women we need to look to each other for motivation and strength at times if not all the time. Digitally empowering women will not only enhance their lives it will ennoble the life of others and solidify and empower future generations of women, by the foundation we build today. Digitally empowering women is not only the smart thing to do it is the right thing to do for the economic, social, mental and educational advancement and empowerment of any community and nation.
Digitally empowering women will give survivours a space to share their stories they will no longer feel voiceless and alone. It offers the opportunity for women to counsel other women, support causes and campaigns, do research while also being strengthen by someone they have never met.
Digitally empowering women will allow the sharing of business plans, ideas and strategies which will encourage women who are in business to excel, and those seeking advice on starting a business or even on setting up and running an NGO.
Digitally empowering women will grant women the opportunity for academic advancement where they are unable to attend or pay for schooling as in many instances the online learning process is free.
When women are digitally empowered they can be a force to be reckoned with, as they unite for the greater good and for the cause. They can transform their community and by extension the world. Their ideas, resources, networking, the ability to petition governments to implement and or change policies which will protect women, prevent violence against women, give justice and equality to all.
Digitally empowered women can enable positive actions, to improve communities throughout the world and create positive change in the world. Digitally empowering women is not only a wise decision it is a profitable one.
