WILD LITTLE FLOWERS

story

Proteas, South Africa's National Flowers, are protected species under the Nature Conservation Act, but these beauties, amongst other 'wildies' grew in my back yard back in 2016 and 2017, when we lived very close to a Nature Reserve. Wild flowers make me happy. They never worry. They are intentional. They require no human effort to grow. They require no special skill. They need no invitation. They are not genetically modified...nature's gift to humanity...
This poem was inspired by my love for wild flowers. They have brought an abundance of happiness in perilous times.
WILD FLOWERS
I've started my day with a simple childlike prayer
Sitting by my window, listening closely
Whistling birds are everywhere
The wind shares a song
And the treetops sway along
"No need for any temporary fashions"
Hills are blossoming without a care
I hear the tiny calls of pretty maidens
Red, pink, yellow, "the rainbow came down"
A colourful tapestry, like mother's eiderdown
Wild flowers! Wild flowers!
Who can compete?
Intentional little living things
Wild flowers! Oh so sweet
Fragile petals tickling my feet
You're Mother's faithful gift to humanity
You visit as the problems do
With no invitation you come on the scene
I ask of you - Is it me you pursue?
How could they know trouble knocks at my door?
They know the things that only wild flowers know
They don't come for my redemption
They come for a dance when my mighty winds blow
"to and fro, to and fro"
Wild flower petals advances to the blue yonder
My mighty winds play an electric song
Tree tops disagree as they sway along
I'm sorry for my loss, but I do not mourn
No need for burlap and forlorn
My debt is paid, my troubles are gone
By incorporating this flower art skill into my future art projects, I am hoping to help women, not only to find healing, but also to help girls and women develop and discover their talents.
I want to thank all my wild flowers, on this platform, for dancing with me when mighty winds blow...
Much love to you all.
