Just a month ago, during the World Cup, ICC Digital Media interviewed Bangladesh’s rising star and premium bowler Marufa Akter, where she spoke about her journey.
At one point, she couldn’t hold back her tears as she revealed that no one used to invite her or her family to weddings because people felt they didn’t have proper clothes to attend, and inviting them would be embarrassing.
But today, Marufa has just attended her own brother’s wedding, wearing a pretty dress, and undoubtedly contributing financially as a proud member of the family.
