Women of the World

Dear Sisters,

I was born in Cali Colombia on October 26, 1958. My mother is Canadian , my father Scottish. Living in Colombia for the first 6 years of my life was positively formative. I Was deeply affected as a young child by the disparities of poverty and race. I committed myself as a 6 year old to helping the disenfranchised in some way.

We moved to Canada via Scotland when I was six years old when the civil war broke out (which is still leaving its' marks on Colombia). My parents' commitment to social justice, nature appreciation and strong family cultural practices led me to committing myself as a 14 year old to wanting to help people to feel thus connected.

I formally studied: Early Childhood Education as a Bachelor degree;  Steiner Education as a Masters' degree; and I focused on Biodynamic Gardening/Farming as an agriculture practice. Dramatherapy and storytelling are active pursuits too. My profession of 4 decades has allowed me to work in many parts of the world sharing my appreciation for children's development and restorative agriculture within community development. Women's issues and  gender equality are supported though this work. I practice equality in my collegial relations including economically.

Currently I teach gardening and parenting at a 'Waldorf /Steiner' School in Sydney, Australia. It is my greatest joy to enable people to feel empowerment when they plant seeds, water plants and create rich soil from healthy compost creation. I love singing, storying and playing with the families whom I 'playgroup' with.

I am most grateful to live close to my daughter and her partner who are both in their third decade. Hopping on a bicycle and swimming in the ocean are refreshing pastimes. I have close ties with my family in Canada and the United States. This includes my sister, her children and grandchildren, and many shared cousins.

I am frequently involved in vibrant women's circles and mixed gender spiritual growth groups. I look forward to learning from and connecting with more women who are committed to assisting healthy happy living.
