I decided to write on this because of some shameless comments I saw on Facebook.
The price of sanitary napkins of Sri Lanka were went up in a big amount in
past recent days, because of the economical catastrophe we are facing in this
period. Few people raised their voice about this problem.
Actually it is somewhat difficult on an ordinary family with two three
girls, to bear these prices. But do you know, what some of the Facebook users
have said?
They said, "New girl generation is weak. They are looking for the easy
ways".
Actually our adult generation were used to keep folded and prepared pieces
of clothes during menstruation period. I think most of ancient women were
accustomed to this.
But current generation is not same. Most of women are doing jobs. They have
to spend their day in different places with different difficulties. But no one
talk about these facilities.
I remember, once in an election period, a politician said that he will
provide women sanitary facilities cheaply or freely. People took it as a joke.
There were many memes on Facebook on it. This is our society. I think this is mainly
because of poor sexual education. Women sanitary, menstruation is a weird and amateur
word for the youth.
Do we need to be weird to talk about these things? I think, no. Normally,
Asian women reluctant to speak about these things.
What do you think? What should we do to equalize and normalize these issues
as a whole society?
