Discussions on Gender based violence in Mbororo communities

Coming from a minority mbororo community  in the North west Region of Cameroon, our culture of Pulaaku( a culture of silence) is a very rich culture of respect and all but it has hindered most mbororo women to raise their voices. They are not allow to take decisions or speak out.Forced in to early marriage I had no right to refuse or speak out. This is what so many young girls go through in these communities and husband's chosen by their father's.Womem's decisions are always taking by men and the women are not allowed to oppose

Today I am working hard to make the women in these communities to raise their voice and also take decisions for them selves by giving them trainings on women's rights and the need to talk  and take decisions for their daughters.SRHR awareness is one of the activity I have carried out in these communities and Gender based violence which has affected women in this community is a major activity we are doing in these communities by identifying the socio cultural norms that leads to GBV and referral pathways that the women can report cases to.This has also help the women alot

The Women are so happy to join Income generating activities and some are eager to get back to school. Most of them feel free now to talk out their problems to me and also raise their voices. We also engage men and boys in some of the trainings and activities to make them see the need of women taking decisions and speaking up
