Women with HIV and AIDS have Dando on their side

Let me introduce you to Miss Dando, who is a young rising star in the world of social work as well as business management in Lusaka, Zambia. She works closely with women who are HIV+ by giving technical support and talking about them in the Network of Zambian People Living with HIV and AIDS (NZP+), the organization she works for. She is proud to see that more and more women are realizing that they have rights and defend them. They are also looking forward to upgrading their studies, as many of them are studying to finish school at night, and youngsters are going to the university even if it means leaving their parent’s home. We can see young and old women mushrooming in jobs, and many of them are getting high positions especially in the private sector. The political power of women is not yet on top of the agenda, as feminine positions in the parliament are too few. In the future she will begin to think about holding a position in the parliament to help women become visible in the country.
When asked if she were an animal, which would she be, she chose a sheep, as it is humble, but knows what it wants. And if she would be a color, she would be white as it can be seen even in darkness. And the word she chose to represent herself is JOY, as when she told herself that when going through hardship, she will always be JOYFUL … and prayerful to God.
These are her words for eleven year-old girls:
“To be or not to be, that is the attitude. You can choose to be determined and focused until you achieve your objective or choose to be a failure and live a life of regret”
These beautiful words say all about her. Admire her, follow her, you will get to love her.
