World Diabetes Day

Diabetes Awareness

My Daddy battled Diabetes for over 25 years before he gave up and left for heaven.

🩸 Today, 14 November, is World Diabetes Day.

Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects 1 in 10 adults worldwide. It causes a person’s blood sugar level to become too high, because the body doesn’t make enough insulin or can’t use it as well as it should.

Some symptoms of diabetes include:

🚰 Feeling very thirsty

🚽 Urinating more often than usual

👁️ Blurred vision

😴 Feeling tired

📉 Losing weight unintentionally

Type 1 diabetes is not preventable.

Type 2 diabetes can often bek prevented with healthy lifestyle.

Type1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition where the body’s immune system attacks itself and stops the body from making insulin.

Some healthy practice to prevent diabetes includes;

✅ Healthy body weight

✅ Staying physically active

✅ Eating a healthy diet

✅ Quitting tobacco

The best way to detect diabetes early is to get regular check-ups and blood tests with a healthcare provider.

Early diagnosis and treatment is key to preventing diabetes complications.

Don't be too busy to take care of your health and prevent this chronic illness.

To all diabetes warriors I say keep faith.

To all fallen heroes including my Dad, I say keep resting.
