World Pulse accelerated the change maker I was hoping to become

I joined World Pulse (WP) in October 2018, my first post was on the 13th of October 2018 exactly two days after I got the inside spark it was time to join WP.

You see, I had google searched for an empowering platform to join in 2013, ans WP was one of those I found. For some reason, I only subscribed to the newsletter but didn't join myself. I guess it wasn't yet time - I believe in such universe appointed moments and events. So, when 5 years later I saw a world pulse badge in a friend's house - that was the spark. I remember typing away so fast that Sunday morning, I didn't want to procrastinate on when to write my first story. I had been following this friend on Facebook and had witnessed her becoming less reserved and more engaging with confidence about what she was doing or being.

Now, I am a hyperactive and thrilling person by nature I guess, but so much traumatic experiences in life had taken a toll on me. Indeed, I had crashed in 2009 and attempted suicide. In 2014 I was diagnosed with PTSD, add this to a Rheumatoid Arthritis diagnosis in 2006. So, imagine the woman I was from 2015-2018. I was coming to terms with my diagnosis' and reality going forth, but above all of the burning desire to get back onto thriving and helping others like myself strive better and why not thrive right?

Was it therefore surprising that my first story on WP be entitled \"Breaking the Silence: My Journey from Surviving to Thriving after multiple abuse\"? Two days later I wrote this other huge one \"

Dear Ayo, in spite of our fractured girlhood we made it...\" This one to my greatest surprise got featured. And so it's been, I just checked today to see how many posts I have written since that 13th of October 2018, and there are 13 pages of posts wow.

Now, if that isn't self empowering and encouraging to and for others, then I don't know how else to qualify that. I have seriously felt like this is it. You needed to be on WP, 2013 was just the discovery but the real deal was to start 5 years later. And oh my, the comments I get mean a lot, the love and solidarity is another wow. Sometimes I wonder why we can't get to show same offline right? I mean we are all 'strangers' online but I have seen nothing but love and respect. Some have become friends offline, others have let me know even through private messages how much my sharing and  can dare it spirit is inspiring them.

That is the change-maker I had felt was dormant in me. World Pulse greatly accelerated that. Let me stop with two sharing to buttress this further. That October 2018 I was relieving my domestic abuse journey by sharing it on Facebook daily (after 7 years), and it was liberating but scary - some comments were outright nasty. But when I joined WP and shared same, all I got was compassion. By the end of that October, I was ready to found the Association Hope for the Abused and the Battered. So much has been done since then. I have created a synergy of associations called TARape and we are having a mega solidarity and sensitization walk on the 9th of November. Secondly, the association got a grant from the US Embassy last month (I signed it personally on the 28th of October my special month, with the US Ambassador himself), to carry out mental health awareness, advocacy and facilitation for one year.

Awwwwwwwww, I have to stop here. WP I tell my other sister out here, will make you realize so much hidden or dormant potential in you, you will read the journey of others and also know you are not alone and can make a change with your own story. In a nutshell, World Pulse helped me to see how my Pain could indeed become my Purpose.
