World Pulse and the impact on Women in my community

For over 12 years of engagement in advocacy, i have found it sad that when it comes to women Rights are ignored despite laws and protocols in place. For 4 years now  World pulse has helped me to move on despite all odds and threats in advocating for women Land Rights. Through sharing with members on the forum, i have had the courage to change my strategy of advocacy to empower women so that they can advocate for themselves. This is because the  area of Land Rights is a very risky area where the messengers/advocates are hit on the head. it does not only involve threats but also complete loss of life. Having been involved in preparation and formation of \"Women Land Rights Movement in Uganda in 1998, i continued with the passion and started a forum called Land Forum Uganda. Through this, we build capacity of the common person to  stand against abuse of women, protect orphans property, and the property of the vulnerable groups. In Uganda, Land rights of women, the common person and vulnerable children are trampled upon at ease. The rich evict the poor, but at the end of the day it is women who suffer as they are the ones that fend for the family.  I have  impacted and brought  a smile on the face of women, and the poor. Women have been made aware of the Laws in Uganda that protect family Land by giving powers to the women to consent before any transaction is made on family Land. Through this, husbands have learnt the significance of registering women interest on Land. Women no longer get involved in purchase of land as witnesses but as owners like it used to be where a woman save money and buys Land but in the agreement the woman appears as a witness yet it is her savings that paid for the Land.   04 women have  been touched, one has battled a court case for 12 years, another was a widow and her plot of land had been grabbed by the church and the 02 had the husbands selling family land. I have supported the four to get their property back.

Under another organization Indigenous Sustainable Development Alliance, women are being economically empowered economically through Biodiversity conservation using bee-keeping as an innovation that helps people to interact with natural resources sustainably. When crop yields are low, it is the woman that feel too much pain. An empowerment to women is an empowerment to the family, nation and the world. Thanks to the Community of World Pulse.
