World Pulse Spirit Award 2021 Nominations: Veronica Ngum

story
We are yet again to that most anticipated period of the year, the now famous Spirit Awards to celebrate incredible members of our beloved online community. Each year, we see women doing amazing stuff and it becomes increasingly difficult to narrow it down when nominating but still, we have to nominate and in this light, I would like to nominate someone I think embodies the WP Spirit. Veronica is a passionate advocate for disability rights. Despite being disabled, she goes out of her way to be there for others. I appreciate her generosity in sharing what knowledge she knows to uplift other sisters. At a time where many would rather hoard knowledge for fear of others coming to over take them, she shares willingly and graciously so long as it uplifts and empowers another sister. I appreciate her working alongside Regina to help me finalize my WILD application but what really impressed me was the willingness to share the knowledge. Not many would have done that and when we had the opportunity to meet in person for the first time in August, I was touched when she made sure that I got back home safe as it was getting late when I left the hotel. In that brief but memorable meet, I met others who spoke positively about the impact she has in their lives; sharing, creating space and avenues for growth. She is always ready to add her voice in any campaign organized by a sister. The disabled community in Bamenda and Cameroon generally is blessed to have her as one of the key players in inclusion and just seeing the lengths with which she goes to ensure women get the help and exposure they need is a testament to someone who embodies the World Pulse spirit and for this reason, I would love to nominate her for this prestigious award.
