“I used to hide whenever I had my period because I thought something was wrong with me. Now, I know it’s normal, and I’m proud to be a girl.”
— Rikikat, 14, Ota, Ogun State
Stories like Rikikat’s are at the heart of why we do what we do at Motherhood NG Initiative.
In celebration of the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, we launched the Teenage Well Project — a transformative outreach focused on menstrual health, dignity, and education for teenage girls in Nigeria.
Breaking the Silence Around Menstrual Health
In too many communities across Nigeria, menstruation is still shrouded in myths, shame, and misinformation.
Our mission with the Teenage Well Project was clear: to break that silence and ensure every girl has the knowledge, confidence, and access she needs to manage her menstrual cycle with dignity.
The project reached 934 teenage girls across Abuja and Ota, Ogun State, empowering them through practical menstrual health education, free sanitary pads, and continuous access to learning through innovation.
A Day of Education, Dignity, and Discovery
The outreach days were filled with laughter, questions, and heartfelt conversations.
Trained facilitators led interactive sessions on:
Understanding menstrual hygiene and body changes
Dispelling harmful myths and misconceptions
Building body confidence and emotional well-being
For many girls, this was their first time openly learning about their menstrual health in a safe, friendly environment.
Dignity in a Pack
Each girl left with a free pack of sanitary pads, a tangible symbol of care and empowerment.
It wasn’t just about the pad — it was about telling every girl: You matter. Your health matters. Your voice matters.
Meet Ms Flow – Their Digital Big Sister
A highlight of the project was the launch of Ms Flow, our AI-powered WhatsApp platform designed to educate and support girls 24/7 on all things menstruation.
With Ms Flow, girls can now chat freely and privately about menstrual health questions, myths, and concerns — anytime, anywhere.
In its first month, over 312 active chats were initiated by girls seeking answers and guidance.
This simple innovation represents a huge leap forward — blending technology and empathy to bridge information gaps for teenage girls in underserved communities.
Community Engagement for Lasting Change
We believe sustainability starts with community.
Teachers, parents, and local leaders in both locations were engaged to continue supporting menstrual health education beyond the outreach.
By equipping schools and families, we’re ensuring that menstrual education becomes a continuous conversation, not a one-time event.

A Collective Effort of Hope and Change
This project would not have been possible without the generosity of our Silver Sponsor – [Sponsor’s Name] and the commitment of our volunteers and community partners.
Together, we created safe spaces for girls to learn, speak, and grow.
Together, we proved that when girls are informed, they are unstoppable.

Looking Ahead
As we move forward, Motherhood NG Initiative remains committed to expanding Ms Flow to reach more schools and communities across Nigeria.
Our vision is a nation where no girl misses school, opportunity, or confidence because of her period.
Conclusion
The Teenage Well Project 2025 was more than an outreach — it was a movement.
A movement that gave girls knowledge, dignity, and a digital friend in Ms Flow.
A movement that reminded every teenage girl that her body is not something to hide — it is something to be proud of.
Because when a girl is empowered with knowledge, she can change her world.
